Participant Information

We are conducting a study on women’s experiences and knowledge of menopause and we would like you to take part by completing an anonymous survey. Our aim is to increase the understanding of women’s needs and knowledge in order to improve access to care, education, and information about menopause.

Women aged 35–65 are welcome to participate. You do not need to have menopausal symptoms to take part – participation is based on age only. We sometimes use the word “woman” because many in this group identify as such. However, menopause can affect others as well, and anyone who has or has had a uterus or ovaries is welcome to participate.

If you choose to take part, you will complete a web-based survey with 48 questions and related sub-questions. The survey takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. It is available in Swedish and English, so you need to be able to read and understand one of these languages well.

För att genomföra enkäten på svenska, använd menyn i högra hörnet för att byta språk.

After submitting the survey, you will receive a short summary with information and answers to some of the key questions addressed in the survey.

Informed choice in menopause

The purpose of the survey is to examine whether women have access to the conditions needed to make informed choices about their health during the menopausal transition.

An informed choice means having:

  • access to knowledge and information that is free from myths and misinformation

  • easy access to healthcare, treatment, and follow-up care

Making informed choices is not the same as giving consent. It is about having access to factual information and support, so that every decision – in life in general and in healthcare in particular – is your own.

Combined MHT: MHT where estrogen and progesterone are taken together.

Sequential treatment: Hormones taken on certain days of the month, usually causing bleeding.

Continuous treatment: Hormones taken every day, usually without bleeding.

Ethics and anonymity

Participation is voluntary, and you may stop at any time. Your responses are anonymous – no information that can identify you will be collected.

By submitting the form, you agree to participate. Because no personal data is stored, it is not possible to withdraw or change your responses after submission.

When the study is complete, the results will be published in a scientific journal.

The Principal Investigator for the project is Dalarna University, which is responsible for the study. The study has been approved by the Swedish Ethical Review Authority (Reference number: 2025-02620-01).
